ITALIAN WINE VS. CORONAVIRUS
Fake new or not?
Is wine really good, even in this moment?
As the blogger colleague Margherita wrote, in the last article published on the Selfwines.it website blog section (which I recommend you read), the wine industry is continuing to go on even in this dark moment, recording an increase of 80 % of online sales in the past two weeks.
But is drinking wine right now really good?
The answer is of course in the common sense of the people who drink it.
It is known that drinking a glass of wine a day is good for us, as Prof. Stefano Ciatti president of Vino e Salute also says: "Drinking a glass of red wine with a meal is good for your health, because it is rich in antioxidants that go inhibiting free radicals, polyphenols act by inhibiting cell aging and have a positive effect on the cardio-circulatory system because they increase good cholesterol and reduce bad cholesterol. Drinking a glass of wine a day also acts as a protector of the gastric wall by inhibiting the the action of helicobacter pylori "however, there is NO scientific research where it is said that wine can bring benefits at this time or even, to a small extent, counter Covid-19.
In fact, yesterday Fabrizio Pregliasco, health director of the Galeazzi Orthopedic Institute and researcher of general and applied hygiene at the University of Milan, denied the news of the president of Assoenologi, Cotarella where he said that a glass of wine could help disinfect the oral cavity ... well it's FALSE, so a Fake news!
Can the virus survive in wine?
The answer is no.
Cotarella in fact declares: "it seems impossible since the concomitant combination of the presence of alcohol, a hypotonic environment and the presence of polyphenols, prevents the life and multiplication of the virus itself".TRUE
Small curiosity: even in history, precisely in 1348 a Franciscan friar in Siena seems to cure the victims of the plague with wine, the same wine they used to celebrate masses and given the incredible results, the belief that this wine had properties immediately spread miraculous enough to earn the name of saint. And hence the birth of Vin Santo.
Finally, I remind you that the red wines of Salento are super rich in polyphenols and antioxidants thanks to the properties of the earth and the climate that give these grapes.
At this moment therefore we drink Italian or better yet we drink Salento Wines.
P.S. if your cellar is emptying, I remind you that the Selfwines.it shop is at your disposal and shipments are guaranteed; below a selection of red wines !!!
